About This Site
The most famous ancient open-air market and cultural hub of pre-Islamic Arabia.
Historical Significance
Souq Okaz was historically more than just a marketplace; it was a center for poetry competitions (where the famous Mu'allaqat were judged), tribal arbitration, and social gatherings. Active from 542 to 726 CE, it has been revived in modern times as a major annual cultural festival, showcasing Saudi heritage, poetry, and arts on the very grounds where ancient Arabs once gathered.
