About This Site

Also known as the 'Mosque of the Elbow', marking a spot of rest for the Prophet (PBUH).

Historical Significance

Located in the Al-Mathnah district, this mosque is also known as 'Masjid al-Mawqif' (The Stop). Tradition holds that the Prophet (PBUH) leaned on a stone here while resting during his difficult journey to Taif. The impression of his elbow was reportedly left on the rock, giving the mosque its name ('Al-Kou' means 'The Elbow'). It stands as a testament to the physical hardships the Prophet endured for the sake of Islam.
